Services & Programs

The Edina Police Department is active in local schools and throughout the community. Our services and programs include:

Chaplains – This group of clergy people serve the community by assisting the department with death notifications and other sensitive situations. They are also available for City employees and the community at large. To contact any of the chaplains, call Sgt. Nate Mendel, 952-826-0467.

Citizen's Academy - For a fun, hands-on look at real policing, come and join our Citizens' Academy. This 10-week program is offered in the spring and fall. For more information, contact Officer Brian Hubbard, 952-826-1610.

Educational Presentations - Edina police officers are available to talk with your Edina group or business. Topics include bank robbery, curfew, DUI and law enforcement as a career. Please contact us at least two weeks in advance of your event or meeting using our online form.

Edina's Night to Unite - This annual night out is held the first Tuesday in August to encourage neighborhoods to create community partnerships.

Explorer Post 925 – Young people age 14 through 20 who are interested in law enforcement careers gain knowledge at weekly meetings with officers and by direct observation. This is a combined Edina/Eden Prairie Post. For more information, contact Officer Kenna Dick at 952-826-1610.

Junior Police – Officers visit third-grade classrooms and talk about the daily activities of a police officer.

Neighbors Home Watch - Keep your neighborhood safe, promote security and communication in your neighborhood and with the Police Department.

Police Reserves – This group of specially trained adult volunteers observes police work in all kinds of situations, and assists the department at various city events and with some administrative duties.
