Who designed the building?
The building was designed by Boarman Kroos Vogel (BKV) Group. Founded in 1978, BKV Group is a 50-person, multi-disciplinary firm providing architectural, interior design, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering and construction administration services. These services are applied to a variety of project types, including those by municipal governments.

Who built City Hall?
Adolfson & Peterson Construction oversaw construction of the new building. Since 1947, Adolfson & Peterson Construction has offered construction services with a continuous theme: an emphasis on high standards of quality, integrity, safety, project control and long-lasting customer relationships.

How big is the new City Hall?
The new City Hall is 57,000 square feet – nearly twice the size as the former building.

How much did the new building cost?
Construction of the new City Hall cost approximately $10.4 million.

Which departments are housed in the building?
The Park & Recreation, Assessing, Planning, Engineering and Building Inspections departments are located on the first floor. The Administration, Finance, Utilities and Health departments are located on the second floor. The exact location of each department is outlined in this brochure.

City Hall could be considered two buildings joined at the hip. The Edina Police Department is located in a separate, curved wing of the building. The entrance to the Police Department is just to the right of receptionist’s desk in the main lobby of City Hall. There is a separate entrance for the Police Department after hours. For security reasons, the interior of the Police Department has not been included with this brochure.

What are the building hours?
City Hall is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. However, parts of the building might remain open for public meetings or by arrangement.

The Edina Police Department is open 24 hours per day. After 4:30 p.m., visitors will enter the Police Department door, located to the south of the main entrance to City Hall.

Can a community group use one of the conference rooms in City Hall?
As in the past, community groups are welcome to use conference rooms in City Hall, including the Mayor’s Conference Room for smaller meetings and the Community Room and Council Chambers for larger gatherings. How do I get a message placed on the City Hall message board?
The first priority for messages on the City Hall message board is publicity for City-sponsored events, programs and activities. The second priority is for messages promoting community events, which will be placed on the sign on a first-come, first-served basis.
