PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT
PLAYGROUND ART SPECIALIST

 

The City of Edina is accepting applications for the position of Playground Art Specialist, who will work from mid-June to the end of July.

Responsibilities include:

• Design and implement a step-by-step plan for arts and crafts projects related tot he weekly program theme, including organizing supplies needed for each project and program.
• Lead children in daily arts and crafts projects at assigned park sites in engaging and creative ways.
• Teach arts and crafts projects to Playground Leaders at weekly staff meetings.
• Assist Playground Leaders with ideas for additional arts and crafts projects.
• Organize and inventory all arts and crafts supplies, makes supply suggestions.
• Communicate with participants, leaders and supervisors any needs or concerns.
• Ensure safe environment for participants at all times.
• Evaluate arts and crafts experiences at the end of the summer.
• Follow City of Edina policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Applicants must be 18 years of age with a high school diploma; good leadership and communication skills; desire to teach arts programs to children; ability to lead children and co-workers; good communication and organization skills; experience working with children in structured programs and the ability to independently get to program locations as needed. Preferred candidates will have experience working with children in arts programming and have coursework in art, elementary education, recreation or a related field.
 

Starting wage is approximately $9.52-$10.85 per hour.
